 Ricinus
Very fast growing shrub with dramatic leaves
ranging from green to bronzed red.
Height: Up to 10ft
Hardiness: Classed as half hardy but they
grow so quickly I treat then as annuals and grow from seed each year.
Propagation: Soak seeds for 24hrs before
planting singly in a propagator 70F in spring, plant out in position once any risk of
frost is over.
Notes: R. communis 'Impala' is my favourite,
feed it well and stand back. The downside all parts of ricinus communis are highly toxic
if eaten and skin contact with foliage may aggravate allergies
