Miscanthus

Deciduous or evergreen clump forming grass comes in a variety of colours and forms of variegation.

Height: From 3ft to 15ft dependant upon variety. Ref. books give height of M. sacchariflorus as 10ft but I've just measured mine at 15ft and the flower spikes have only just started to open.

Hardiness: Most are fully hardy

Propagation: Grow from seed in a propagator in early spring or divide clumps in spring.

Notes: The ultimate grass one to frighten your lawnmower with. Seems to like plenty of moisture, shoots will easily pierce pond liners, you have been warned. M. sinensis 'Zebrinus' is most unusual with cream coloured horizontal bands on leaves. Makes a good wind break.
