 Catalpa bignoniodes 'Aurea'
(Indian bean tree)
A spreading tree with light green/yellow
leaves
Height: Can grow up to 45ft but in a small
garden it responds well to pollarding this keeps the tree to a reasonable size and gives
the advantage of larger leaves.
Hardiness: Fully hardy once established.
Propagation: Catalpa bignoniodes is easily
grown from seed although I've never come across seeds for 'Aurea'. Softwood cuttings can
be rooted in late spring or early summer.
Notes: Very impressive tree particularly
when pollarded, leaves can reach over 14inches across.
